Alfred Sung was born in Shanghai in 1948 and
raised in Hong Kong. He studied couture at the Chambre Syndicale de la
Couture Parisienne. After graduating with first place honours, Sung
moved to New York to study at Parsons School of Design.
In
1972, he moved to Canada where he first designed for a sportswear
manufacturer in Toronto. In 1976, he opened his own shop called Moon.
In
1979, he joined forces with Joseph and Saul Mimran and in the following
year formed the Monaco Group Inc. which developed the Alfred Sung label
and manufactured it in their own unionized shop.
Sung's main
aim is to create clean, modern, timeless fashions that offer quality,
style, and value and appeal to professional and executive women. |
